Heather Koster is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and the owner of A Quiet Mind Counseling Center, LLC. Heather has over 18 years of experience providing therapeutic services for children, adolescents and adults. She specializes in anxiety/stress, depression, child and adolescent development, adjustment issues, parenting and family stressors, relationship conflicts and life transitions.
Heather attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis for her B.A. and earned her Masters at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. During her graduate years, she attended several additional training programs and completed two accredited internship programs, in addition to volunteering at the Walk-In Counseling Center in Minneapolis and receiving an award for Volunteer of the Year.
Prior to starting her own private practice in 2011, Heather worked as a psychotherapist in a child and adolescent residential treatment program, provided clinical services in therapeutic school programs and in-home family therapy and assessments with adults, couples and families. Heather is a strong advocate for mental health issues and has taught and presented on a variety of topics including anxiety, stress, depression, ADHD, anger management, attachment, parenting, oppositional and defiant behavior, and school refusal and avoidance to parents, teachers, professionals and community agencies.
